Championship Manager

Introduction

Championship Manager World Challenge  is a football management and betting game based on Eidos Interactive's award-winning title Championship Manager, where you choose a team and take that team through group and knockout stages all the way to the World Challenge Final! On the way, you can choose to play friendly matches until you're ready to play in the Challenge Cup Finals themselves. You can change your team formation and mentality and you can place bets on not only the outcome of each match but on the correct score result too. After each match, your team will earn you 'experience points' which mean that your chances of beating your next opponent will be higher. Given plenty of practice and sound management, you could even win the World Challenge with Honduras You can play for as long or as little as you like without losing your progress as you can choose to save your game status at any time.

Game Instructions

The game has two phases: team/wager selection and management followed by game animation and results/statistics. On start up, you need to choose one of the World Challenge finalist teams and then play at least three friendly games before you can enter the World Challenge itself. To play a friendly, you can play the first team picked by the game by default or scroll to make your own selections, or even refresh the list of opponents until you find an opponent you would like to play. The odds of winning, losing or drawing that game will be displayed below this section. If you choose to play Brazil v Honduras as the home team, you will have better chances and lower odds than if you chose vice versa.

In the panel below opponent selection, you can choose to alter your team mentality and formation, both of which have a bearing on the outcome of the game. Finally, you need to select what stake you would like to place on the outcome of the match and you can also choose one or more correct score bets from the 'Other Bets' panel as well. When ready, you simply need to hit the PLAY button at the bottom to watch an animation of the highlights from the game. After the game has concluded, you are presented with the results screen, showing not only the outcome of your bets but also the result of the match.

Having played three friendly games, you are entitled to take your team into the World Challenge Finals in South Africa. You can no longer choose your opponent here and group games are chosen at random. You are also no longer permitted to bet against your team although you can bet on a draw. All correct score bets are still available to you. At any time, you can choose to play more friendlies without losing the stage/level you have reached in the World Cup. If you do not qualify from your Qualifying Group, you need to restart the Group phase. Having qualified from your Group you progress into the Knockout stages. If you lose during any of the Knockout stages, , you simply return to the Group stages again

Experience Points

'Experience points' are earned through both friendly and World Challenge games (although not in free play mode). The number of 'experience points' you earn will depend on the relative strength of your team and of your opponent, plus the size of your match bet. The number of 'experience points' awarded is shown after each game and your total is shown next to your username in the top left of the screen.

Load/Save

If you have played the game before you will be offered the choice on start up to load an existing game. If you choose this option, you will return at the stage you left your game previously. Please note however that you can only save one game so that if you change team at any stage, you will overwrite your previously saved game.
